Alex was very clear that he wanted to decorate his room but he did not know what work he was looking for. He especially liked historical paintings and landscapes. He did not know the measures either; neither too big nor too small. It was the first purchase of a work of art and he had many doubts, as usual. After a first selection that did not convince him, he decided to buy this landscape of Hastings, a city located on the south coast of England.

The artist is Sir James Braithwaite Peile (1833-1906), a British artist who worked mainly in watercolour landscapes. This work represents the views of Hastings from the castle. Undoubtedly, one of the reasons that pushed Alex to buy it was the fact of having been in the city and recognizing the place from where the landscape was painted. Art often allows us to connect with personal experiences.
